Update from the churches of the Glaven Valley Benefice
for July 2020
I’m writing this a few days after it was announced by the government that those churches who wished to do so could start to re-open, albeit only for private prayer rather than public worship or general visiting. So as I write, we are putting cautious plans in place to make that possible. Obviously there are a range of health and safety issues which have to be addressed, before we start to re-open (on Monday 22nd June). We have decided to limit any church opening to 3 hours, on a maximum of 2 days in the week, in order to give 72 hours between sessions, to minimise the danger of the virus. But by the time you see this, we hope to have the following schedule in place (2.00-5.00pm in each case):
Mon – Glandford Tue – Wiveton Wed – Blakeney
Thu – Glandford Fri – Cley Sun – Blakeney
Whenever a church is open, people are very welcome to come in for private prayer. There will be notices in place to explain procedures. As we know, things are changing all the time, and it may be that these arrangements will be superseded by others, so please do keep checking the website (see below) as well.
In the meantime, we’re continuing to stream a live online service every Sunday morning from Blakeney Church at 11.00 via Zoom. As before, I’m sending out the invitation and link to a broad list of people. Do let me know if you’d like to be added to that list, and also receive bits of news and information, links to other events, and regular reflections. Alternatively, you can also find the links to the Sunday services on our website.
Our Youtube channel (Glaven Valley Churches) is still available, with a series of short films we made to celebrate special days from Holy Week to Ascension Day.
Our benefice website address is: www.glavenvalleychurches.org.uk where you’ll find more details and information about our churches, and what’s available both generally and at the moment.
If you’d prefer, please contact me on [email protected] or by phone on 740686.
In common with many organisations, our income has fallen dramatically during this crisis period. We’re tremendously grateful for donations, and if you’d like to make a contribution to the churches, you’ll find a ‘Just Giving’ facility on our website home page. Thank you.
Whatever your need may be, we’re here to help and support you in any way we can.
We wish you all health, safety, and resilience at this time, and God’s profound blessing.
